FAQ

Frequently asked questions

If your question is not here, call 09 520 4899 and we will talk it through.

Do I need a patch test before colour?

Yes, if you are new to us or have not had colour with us recently, we need a patch test at least forty eight hours before your appointment. It is a small dab of product behind the ear or on the inner arm to check your skin does not react. It only takes a minute and it keeps you safe, so please pop in or arrange it when you book.

How long will my appointment take?

It depends on the service. A cut and blow wave is usually around forty five minutes to an hour, while colour can take two to three hours depending on length, thickness and what we are doing. Foils and full colour transformations take longer again. When you book we will give you a realistic time so you can plan your day.

How should I look after my hair colour so it lasts?

Wait at least forty eight hours before your first wash so the colour settles, and use a sulphate free, colour safe shampoo and conditioner. Wash in cooler water, keep heat styling to a sensible level and use a heat protectant. A weekly treatment and the odd toner top up keep it looking fresh for longer, and we are happy to recommend products that suit your hair.

Can you fix colour done somewhere else or a home dye?

Often yes, but colour correction is skilled work and we will not rush it. We start with a consultation to look at the condition of your hair and what you are after, then plan the steps, which sometimes means more than one visit to protect the hair. Box dyes and previous treatments can affect the result, so the more you can tell us, the better we can help.

What is the difference between a balayage, foils and a full colour?

Full colour covers all your hair in one even shade and is great for grey coverage or a complete change. Foils give defined lightness and dimension, section by section, and suit a brighter or more structured look. Balayage is hand painted for a softer, lived in, grown out look with less regrowth maintenance. In your consult we will match the technique to the result you want and how much upkeep suits you.

Do you offer a consultation before a big change?

Yes, and we recommend one before any big cut, colour change or correction. It is a relaxed chat where we look at your hair, talk through what you want, show you options, and set honest expectations about time, cost and how many visits it may take. There is no pressure, and it means no surprises on the day.

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Life happens, and we just ask for as much notice as you can give, ideally at least twenty four hours, so we can offer the spot to someone else. Late cancellations and no shows leave a gap we cannot fill, so repeated short notice changes may mean we ask for a deposit on future bookings. A quick call or message is all we need.

Can I bring a photo of the look I want?

Please do, a photo is one of the best ways to show us what you are picturing. Just keep in mind that your starting colour, hair type and condition affect what is achievable in one visit, and lighting in photos can be misleading. We will be honest about what we can do straight away and what might take a little longer to reach safely.
